The professionals come fully equipped with blankets, shrink wrap, tools, etc. to professionally transport items and give them the care they deserve. Unfortunately, the possibility of damage during the course of a move may occur on an infrequent basis despite taking every precaution necessary. For this reason, basic liability insurance is provided as required by the state of AZ and the Department of Transportation.
The representatives at Muscular Moving Men are up front and direct in every approach to your move. It is very important to understand the way basic liability insurance works within the moving industry. The common assumption is that full coverage is included when a moving company lists itself as an "insured company". The reality is, this is only a statement indicating the company has the sufficient cargo coverage that the DOT requires. Most professional and reputable companies offer a 60ยข per lb. basic waiver. There is a large inherent risk taken by a moving company during a move and offering basic liability insurance at no additional charge is the way companies protect themselves.
Your average local move can run $300 to $500 depending on the circumstances while movers are carrying dozens of items worth much more than that on each trip into the truck. For instance; the cost of your average computer is $1000.00. Without the limits of liability waiver, a moving company would be liable for twice the amount of their job total with just that one item. That along with the rest of the items on a given move, and there becomes far too much liability compared to the net profit. There is no doubt you as the customer have considerable risk as well. If a computer were to be damaged during the move the compensation would be based on its weight. A computer weighing 50 lbs. would only receive $30.00 once a claim is filed.
Muscular Moving Men offers $0.60/lb coverage for damages or missing items at no additional charge. Some customers elect to rely on renters or homeowners insurance. Some policies offer coverage above the $0.60 per pound that is included at no additional charge as part of the basic liability coverage Muscular Moving Men provides. If a homeowners/renters policy stipulates that they provide this type of coverage, the usual cost varies. Your insurance company will typically request licensing information to verify a well known and reputable moving company is taking care of the job.
